Most kids hate shopping FACT and according to research commissioned by NewRiver – which owns and operates Abbey Centre – most parents hate shopping with their kids in tow!
38% of parents from Co. Antrim say they would rather avoid a trip to the shops with their kids for fear of a meltdown.
Almost a half (45%) of parents claimed their child has thrown a tantrum whilst shopping, with over a third (35%) polled admitting to promising their child a treat to get them to behave when shopping.
Abbey Centre is tackling shopping stress and making the experience fun for all the family with the launch of The Kids Club.
The Kids Club provides kids with entertainment and activities to take the sting out of trailing round the shops. All front-facing staff are also trained in temper tantrum management in order to give the adults a breather.
Newtownbbey mum, Philomena says;
“Most of us have experienced our own kids having a meltdown or felt the pain of other parents struggle to keep their little ones happy while shopping. My girls, Annie and Eabha loved collecting their Kids Club packs and completing the activity sheets when doing the back to school shop.”
