Face Covering Policy

29th March 2021

Staff, visitors, contractors, and members of the public are required to use face coverings across all Abbey Centre buildings. A face covering is typically a cloth covering for both the nose and mouth.

Exemptions for individuals are set out below.

In line with the exemptions that apply in public spaces, the requirement to wear face coverings in Abbey Centre will not apply to those who have a legitimate reason. This includes:

  • Not being able to put on, wear, or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
  • If putting on, wearing, or removing a face covering will cause severe distress
  • Where interacting with someone who uses lip reading to communicate, or who has social communication impairments
  • Young children

It is important that we respect one another and remember that the reasons for not wearing a face covering may not always be visible.

Individual retailers will operate their own face covering policy.

Face coverings are not a substitute for social distancing and other hygiene and safety measures.

Thank you for your understanding.
