7th March 2019

Abbey Centre welcomed NSPCC as our charity partner for 2019/20.

To kick start our NSPCC campaign we launched ‘One Million Pennies’ Wednesday 6th March 2019, placing two old school money spinners at our Food Court and facing Next internal entrance. Our pennies are being counted and we’ll share a total asap.

We also partnered with NSPCC and our O2 store to host ‘Tech Fest’ Easter 2019 – an internet safety awareness day. Childhood Day in June saw us raise £474.82 for the charity and our BIG Screen event, in association with Movie House Cinemas, May 2019 raised £2,160!

The MET Students Black Friday Collection raised £1,000 with Carols by Candlelight £500.

The total raised for NSPCC throughout 2019 was £3,234.82 (with our pennies to be added).

Mark Stewart, Centre Manager said;

‘As a family friendly shopping centre, we pride ourselves on safeguarding everyone, especially vulnerable children. Thank you to everyone who has made this partnership successful this year. As a true mark of the relationship developed, we will continue to house the NSPCC money spinners on mall, indefinitely.’

Karen Kerr, NSPCC said;

‘Every penny helps us protect children. Huge thanks to Abbey Centre’s shoppers for spinning until they got dizzy and to the entire team who worked tirelessly to raise both funds and awareness of NSPCC NI.’

The final BIG event for NSPCC at Abbey Centre is World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, 3pm – 5pm featuring creation colouring stations, face painting and magical balloon modelling. Come along, make a small donation and enjoy the activity.
